WAMCon
WAMCon continues to be one of the leading career development opportunities for WA artists and industry professionals, providing a vital and valuable opportunity for the WA music sector to network with and learn from national and international industry experts.
Having run annually for over 16 years the two-day conference features a full line-up of local, national and international industry representatives sharing their expert insights across a program of panels, presentations and networking opportunities targeted to the needs of the WA sector.
Over the years, WAMCon has drawn a dynamic range of industry heavyweights including booking agencies, record labels, publishing companies, sync agencies, music media, artist management companies and more, providing WAMCon ticket holders with direct access to experts from every corner of the music industry.
WAM AWARDS
WA’s music industry night of nights, the WAMAwards – or WAMis, as they’re often referred to – is where the finest local talent is awarded and celebrated.
Each year after public nominations have been received, industry panels vote across 30+ categories to uncover the very best WA music has to offer. WA’s thriving music community also has their say, with public voting available across five award categories.
WAMFEST
WAMFest is the peak annual showcase and celebration of original WA contemporary music, capturing both fans’ and the industry’s imagination.
The festival is WA’s favourite annual celebration of emerging homegrown artists, bands and producers. It holds a distinct and unique place in the global festival market as the largest of its kind anywhere in the world, celebrating and showcasing local artists.
Spread across multiple weekends, WAMFest sees a series of outdoor concerts, venue showcases, family-friendly events all centred around WA music.
WAMCon, WA’s music industry conference, and the WAMAwards, WA music’s annual awards evening, also form part of WAMFest, providing even more opportunities for local artists and industry folk to get together and celebrate WA music.
SNAPSHOT
Snap Shot is a collection of images representing the evolution of music and the scene around it over the past 100 or so years. The exhibition pays tribute to artists, audiences and places central to music, showcasing the diversity and legacy of the scene in WA. The images have been drawn from many sources – the collections of WAM and the State Library, private collections, and the hard drives (and filing cabinets!) of many working photographers.
It also comes with a cracking soundtrack, which has been curated by a number of WA music industry icons, such as San Cisco, Dulcie, Dom Mariani and Grace Barbé.
This year, Snap Shot features an incredible collection of images from iconic music photographer, Tony Mott. Tony is recognised as Australia’s premier rock photographer. Tony’s photographic career began in 1983 after going to see The Divinyls. One of the photos he took that night was chosen for a tour poster, and then bands began approaching Mott to shoot their gigs. Tony’s photos have appeared on the covers of music magazines and album covers. Tony has also published several books. www.tonymott.com.
